Thank you for your interest in working at Sekolah Pelita Harapan. We are delighted that you may be considering joining us. Let me try to give you a little information about SPH. You can then determine if you wish to formally make an application to join our schools community.
Sekolah Pelita Harapan is a system of three international non-denominational Christian K-12 campuses and one Pre-school/Nursery campus. The schools began in 1993 in response to a need for quality education founded upon Biblical Christian truth. The program is dual language and not ESL, with instruction in both English and Bahasa Indonesia. Expatriate teachers are not required to teach in Bahasa Indonesia, but work with Indonesian teachers in grades K-6. It is our intention to prepare our students to be future leaders of as disciples of Jesus Christ. We are an International Baccalaureate World school teaching the IB Diploma, Middle Years and Primary Years Programmes. We are also an accredited member of the Council of International Schools. As a Christian school, we have a definite Vision and Mission in which all teachers are expected to participate. Expectations are listed in the application materials.
Sekolah Pelita Harapan prefers teachers to have two years of teaching experience and a degree in Education is required for a Work Permit. We cannot consider female teachers with a non-teaching spouse, as it is not possible to get a Stay Permit for the husband as a dependent under Indonesian law. We do employ teaching couples and teachers with families on a teacher to 2 dependents ratio.
Heads of Schools are expected to meet all of the requirements for teachers and to have some leadership experience. Post graduate qualifications are also desirable. The school provides a US$ salary, a Local Living Allowance (LLA), modest free furnished housing, utilities, medical coverage, transportation to Indonesia, transportation from Indonesia at the completion of a two year contract, a retirement scheme, visa and work permit costs, and paid Indonesia income tax.
By completing the requirements in the Application Process and signing the Doctrinal Statement, you will be considered a candidate. Every effort will be made to conduct an interview with you either in person or by phone.
